Wednesday, September 15, 2021, a Mini Feature was made with the TVRI team in Batu Bara Regency. In the interview, one of the discussions was about the Kuala Tanjung Port which will be used as an International Hub Port. PT Prima Pembangunan Kawasan (PT PPK) as the person in charge of the development of the Kuala Tanjung Industrial Estate, participated in the interview together with TVRI, represented by the Director of Business, Mr. Saut F Siagian, ST., MSTr.
On that occasion, Mr. Saut said that the Kuala Tanjung Port was developed in stages. The first stage is the construction of a Multipurpose Terminal. The second stage, currently, is the development of an Industrial Estate covering an area of 3,400 hectares and the next stage the Kuala Tanjung Port is entering the International Hub Port stage.
This Industrial Estate will be built on an area of 3,400 hectares and will gradually be given a Penlok (Location Determination) by the Regent of Batu Bara covering an area of 1,178 hectares to PT PPK to be developed as industrial growth centers. In addition, this industrial estate project has also become part of the National Strategic Project (PSN) based on Presidential Regulation Number 56 of 2018 concerning the Second Amendment to Presidential Regulation Number 3 of 2016 concerning Acceleration of Implementation of National Strategic Projects in conjunction with Presidential Regulation Number 81 of 2018 concerning the Acceleration of Development and Operation of the Kuala Tanjung Port and Industrial Estate in North Sumatra Province.
This industry will later trigger the volume of goods in and out so that this Industrial Estate can grow to become an International Hub Port that can handle nearly 12 million TEUs of containers per year. Kuala Tanjung Port will later become the future of North Sumatra and Batu Bara Regency.
