MEDAN – The loading and unloading traffic at Kuala Tanjung Port, Batubara Regency, North Sumatra, is growing rapidly, encouraging the development of industrial estates in the vicinity. Since its establishment in 2019, the performance of this subsidiary of PT Pelindo 1 (Persero) has continued to increase.
This was disclosed by the President Director of Pelindo 1, Dani Rusli Utama when receiving a working visit from the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenkomarves) at Kuala Tanjung Port & Industrial Estate and Belawan on October 8-9 2020, yesterday.
As explained by Dani Rusli Utama, the port of Kuala Tanjung has recorded a positive growth trend and is supported by the integrated operation of the Sei Mangkei Special Economic Zone (KEK) which is managed by a subsidiary of PTPN 3 (Persero).
“Increased connectivity between ports, trains, and toll roads will be the motor to strengthen the operational progress of the Kuala Tanjung Port. Pelindo 1 is ready to accept investors to cooperate and support investment activities in Sumatra, especially Kuala Tanjung, “he explained.
Kemenkomarves visit was attended by Plt. Deputy for Infrastructure and Transportation Coordination at the Ministry of Communications, Ayodhia G.L. Kalake, Advisor to the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Security for Defense and Security Marsetio, Expert Staff for Connectivity Sahat Panggabean.
Meanwhile, Pelindo 1 Managing Director Dani Rusli Utama was accompanied by Pelindo 1 Commissioner Ahmad Perwira Mulia Tarigan, Director of Business Transformation and Development Prasetyo, Operational and Commercial Director Ridwan Sani Siregar, and Director of Human Resources and General Henry Naldi.
Dani Rusli continued, Pelindo 1 developed the Kuala Tanjung industrial area in the period 2020-2022 covering an area of 1,128 hectares according to the location determination (Penlok) of the Coal Regency Government.
Pelindo 1 expects support for the development of Kuala Tanjung Industrial Estate, including ease of obtaining permits for investors to start, run and develop their businesses, management of energy, water, telecommunication, and waste supplies; availability and quality of transportation infrastructure, and competitive tariff policies in the supply of electricity and gas for tenants. In addition, an investment policy for the construction of an oil refinery in Kuala Tanjung Industrial Estate is also needed.
Plt. Deputy for Infrastructure and Transportation Coordination at the Ministry of Commerce, Ayodhia G.L. Kalake welcomes the Kuala Tanjung development program as a National Strategic Project (PSN) and international relations.
Kemenkomarves will help accelerate its development and map the obstacles faced in order to help find solutions. The progress of this project also depends on the connectivity, access roads, and railways which must support it. If all the infrastructure is completed, Kuala Tanjung’s operations will also be optimal.
