Bisnis.com Ecosystem, JAKARTA – PT Pelabuhan Indonesia I (Persero) or Pelindo 1 establishes logistics cooperation with DHL Global Forwarding Indonesia to boost the company’s performance while strengthening and expanding its logistics services.
President Director of Pelindo 1 Dani Rusli Utama together with President Director of DHL Global Forwarding Indonesia Vincent Yong signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) of cooperation covering transportation, warehousing, warehousing management, information technology, distribution of goods, and other supporting activities specifically at The Port of Kuala Tanjung Port and Industrial Estate (Kuala Tanjung PIE) on March 1, 2021.
“To build an ecosystem and prepare Kuala Tanjung PIE as Indonesia’s main gateway to the global logistics network, we must synergize with many logistics companies,” Dani said in a press release on Tuesday (2/3/2021).
According to him, Pelindo 1 cooperation with DHL will provide added value for both parties and provide cheaper, faster, and transparent services. Moreover, Kuala Tanjung PIE’s position is very strategic as an important node in the global logistics and supply chain.
“As the port complex and industry of the future, Kuala Tanjung PIE will continue to grow with the vision of becoming Indonesia’s Logistic and Supply Chain Global,” he said.
Meanwhile, through this cooperation, Vincent Yong is optimistic that he can improve the performance and quality of services and provide benefits for both parties.
“We are very proud to be working with Pelindo 1, a collaboration conducted in freight forwarding and logistics project business opportunities,” he added.
For information, Kuala Tanjung PIE consists of two integrated parts, namely the Port Area and Industrial Estate. The development of the Port Area is marked by the operation of Kuala Tanjung Multipurpose Terminal (KTMT) since 2019. As an international hub, the port is designed to accommodate large ships weighing 50,000 DWT (deadweight tonnage) as well as various types of cargo, from containers, liquid bulk, to general cargo.
As for industrial estates, it will also be strengthened by the availability of various integrated transportation networks in the form of Trans-Sumatra toll roads and railways. Kuala Tanjung PIE is also directly connected to sei Mangkei Special Economic Zone (KEK), which is the main palm oil-based industrial center in northern Sumatra.
