Medan, March 21 2024 _ PT Prima Regional Development (PT PPK) as a subsidiary of PT Pelindo Solusi Logistik (SPSL) which is part of PT Pelindo (Persero) (Pelindo Group) recently attended and gave a presentation regarding investment opportunities in the region Kuala Tanjung Industry to the Thailand Board of Investment Jakarta Office. This activity was attended by the Regional Secretary’s Assistant for Economy and Development (Dr. H. Agus Tripiyono, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA.), Deputy Head of Provincial Bank Indonesia Representative (Yura A. Djalins), Head of Provincial Transportation Service, Analyst Provincial Dispora Policy, Policy Analyst of the Government Bureau and Regional Secretariat of Regional Secretariat, Representatives of Project Owners in North Sumatra such as: PT Kawasan Industri Nusantara (KEK Sei Mangkei), PT Kawasan Industri Medan, PT Prima Pembangunan Kawasan (Kuala Tanjung Industrial Area), PT Angkasa Pura Aviation (Commercial Area KNO Airport), Lake Toba Authority Implementing Agency (Toba Caldera Resort), Provincial Transportation Service (Mebesar Bus Rapid Transit) and Provincial Youth and Sports Service (Sport Center).
Ms. Chatchadaporn Krungkasem, Minister Counselor (Investment Promotion) Thailand Board of Investment in his speech said that this institution is an organization under the Office of the Prime Minister of Thailand and the Thai Embassy in Jakarta whose main task and responsibility is to promote investment to Thailand and Thai investment to Indonesia. “Thailand Board of Investment Jakarta Office is currently exploring investment opportunities in Indonesia, especially North Sumatra and plans to collaborate with relevant government and private agencies and will bring data/information on investment projects offered to entrepreneurs and investors in Thailand for their return to Thailand. North Sumatra at the end of July or early August 2024,” he said in his speech.
Provincial Government Representative, Dr. H. Agus Tripriyono, S.E., M.Sc., Ak., CA., welcomed and supported the intention of Ms. Chatchadaporn Krungkasem and delegation to North Sumatra as an initial assessment of information/data about investment potential and opportunities in the North Sumatra region. He also said, “North Sumatra Province has various potentials in the agricultural, plantation, fishery, livestock, forestry, mining and energy sectors, almost equally tourism that has been developed and exploited and that still requires further exploration. Through Nort Sumatra Invest, which is a collaborative team between the North Sumatra Provincial Government and the North Sumatra Province Bank Indonesia Representative Office, currently offering 7 priority investment projects to potential investors, namely, KEK Sei Mangkei, KIM, KIKT, Airport City, Sports Center, BRT Mebesar and Toba Caldera Resort.”
Deputy Chief Representative of BI for North Sumatra, Yura A. Djalins, explained that the projection for North Sumatra’s economy in 2024 will increase in the range of 4.5-5.3% (year on year). On this occasion, he also said, “In 2024, North Sumatra’s economy is projected to increase in the range of 4.5-5.3% from year to year, and invited the Thailand Board of Investment Jakarta Office to realize an investment in North Sumatra where Thailand is currently not yet an investor countries, especially in North Sumatra.”
Next, presentations from the Project Owners, one of which was PT PPK, represented by Martin Pasaribu, commercial and development manager who promoted the Kuala Tanjung Industrial Area. “The Kuala Tanjung Industrial Area is an industrial area that is integrated with the Kuala Tanjung Port which has other advantages such as being close to multimodal trains and toll roads which are connected to the Ports of Belawan and Sei Mangkei and is supported by a diverse hinterland,” he said. Apart from that, through this forum, PT PPK hopes to be able to work with investors from Thailand and will wait for the arrival of a group of Thai investors scheduled for the end of July or early August 2024 to visit the Kuala Tanjung Industrial Area.
The Thailand Board of Investment Jakarta Office promised to submit data/information regarding the 7 priority investment projects that were presented at this activity and hopes that investment cooperation will be established in time with Provincial Government Agencies and with Private Parties in the North Sumatra region.
