Batubara, Friday, October 25, 2024 – PT Prima Pengembangan Kawasan (PPK), a subsidiary of PT Pelindo Solusi Logistik and part of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) (Pelindo) Group, is actively coordinating with stakeholders in regulatory sectors to expedite the completion of the permits needed for the operation of the Kuala Tanjung Industrial Area (KIKT).
A meeting was held at PT PMT Kuala Tanjung’s office on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, attended by PT PPK representatives and officials from the Priority Infrastructure Provision Acceleration Committee (KPPIP), the Ministry of Industry, the Head of Industry for North Sumatra Province, the Secretary of the Industry Department of Batubara Regency, and other local representatives. The discussion focused on the progress of KIKT’s development and the necessary support for its operationalization.
PPK’s Acting Director, Sutanto, shared several updates regarding KIKT’s development, stating, “PT PPK has completed the land acquisition process for KIKT. Next, we will accelerate the construction of basic infrastructure at KIKT and proceed with the necessary permits.” He also called on government stakeholders, both at central and regional levels, for support in expediting the required permits.
Ms. Dewi (Supartien Kumala Dewi from KPPIP) highlighted KIKT as a National Strategic Project, emphasizing its importance to the government. “The operation of KIKT is highly anticipated, as it means investors in the industrial area will require thousands of workers, driving economic activity in the surrounding communities. KPPIP will assist with the required permits,” she stated, responding to PT PPK’s presentation.
Dewi further recommended that PT PPK coordinate with relevant parties, such as PLN for electricity, Pertagas for gas supply, and PDAM for water availability. Meanwhile, Bayu (I Made Bayu from the Ministry of Industry’s Project Management Office) urged PT PPK to promptly address permits related to industrial area management. “We will provide direct consultation support regarding the necessary requirements,” he said.
The Kuala Tanjung Industrial Area is expected to operate soon, attracting investment and boosting the economy in Batubara Regency, Bayu concluded.
